Unable to password protect word 2003 document

Greetings,
I have a user that's having a problem with password protecting Word
documents in Word 2003. When she opens the document, goes to Tools-

Options->Security tab, the password field is disabled and when she

clicks on it a message pops up saying

"This feature is disabled because it is not compatible with Microsoft
Internet Explorer 4.0 and Netscape Navigator 4.0"

The user is running XP with IE 6... all of her coworkers can password
protect documents just fine.

Thanks in advance for any insight you may provide on fixing this
issue!

I guess the first place I'd look is in Tools/Options/General/Web
options and see if any of those makes any difference...
