Unable to paste Web images directly into Word document

Hi:

I recently upgraded to Office 2003, running on Windows XP. Since then,
I am unable to copy and paste images from the Web into a Word document
(something I have been able to do for ages, using earlier versions of
Word).

Troubleshooting so far:

- changed the view to print layout
- changed the picture to "in line with text"
- turned off picture placeholder

Copying the image into Photoshop presents no problem, so it is nothing
to do with a link in the Web image. I can do the workaround by saving
the images to My Pictures and inserting from there, but it seems there
must be a simpler solution. (BTW: the video drivers work fine)

Does anyone have any insight into this problem?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Heather,

What happens when you try to paste using Edit=>Paste special in Word and choose a format other than 'HTML'?

In your firewall software is Word set to allow it to access the internet? It will do so when you use a web linked graphic to paste.
