Unable to patch or access setup in Office XP

Tried to install SP3. Error message that (.msp) file may
be missing.

Unable to repair or access setup program from CD. I Get
the following message:

ERROR_PATCH_PACKAGE_
OPEN_FAILED 1635
This patch package could not be opened. Verify that the
patch package exists and that you can access it, or
contact the application vendor to verify that this is a
valid Windows Installer patch package.

Can I replace some files? If so, what and where? I noted
several .msi files on cd.

Or is reinstall necessary? If so, how?
