Error in Office XP SP3 (10.6501)
Further to knowledge base article 819853
(http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=819853) I am receiving
exactly the same error for different reasons after the installation of
service pack 3 as recommended in the article.
I have a file containing several pivot tables. Unless the pivot tables are
refreshed immediately prior to saving (using refresh all), then on next
opening the 'Unable to read file' error is displayed and follows exactly as
detailed in the above knowledge base article (pivot tables are discarded due
to integrity problems).
The file can be used normally if the data is always refreshed before saving.
Incidentally, I tried the file on a computer running Office 2003 and found
that the same error occurred unless service pack 1 was installed.
I am using a refresh command in Workbook_BeforeSave event, but this is less
than ideal.
Is there a fix for this?
