Unable to read file.

As a preface, I had just today uninstalled Norton
Antivirus. I only put that in there because I do not know
what effect it may have had. Anyways, now whenever I try
to open a Word document it says "The file (insert file
name) is not available." Whenever I try to open an excel
file it says "Unable to read file." I had also just
updated with the latest security patch and have added all
the office updates that are currently available. I am at
a loss as to what has happened. ANY and ALL
help/tips/suggestions/prayers are helpful and appreciated.

Maybe there's something left from the Norton AV program that's
conflicting with the upgrades. There's information in the following MSKB
articles that may help:

OFF: Cannot Open Office Documents or Cannot Edit Inserted Objects After
You Install Office XP Service Pack 2 or Office 2000 Service Pack 3
