Unable to receive aol msgs

After going thru all 30 steps and on-line support (who referred me to aol who
referred me to IBM via circular dialogue) I am able to Send but not Receive
msgs from AOL. I have executed all steps according to all known (to me) MS
Help and AOL instructions. Error msg: a connection to the server could not
be established" even though I am on line with aol via Comcast.
