Unable to record a new Macro

Hello,
I am not able anymore to record a new macro in MS Project 2007 after opening
an enterprise project. After selecting Tools> Macro> Record new Macros… I
pick Store macro in Global File, I give a name and click on OK. Then, I
systematically got the message: “MacroNameâ€is not a valid macro name. A
macro must begin with a letter etc.
Of course it was a valid name, so I can’t figure out what happened. Any ideas?

Can you record to a local file? It's not good practice to record to the
Global.mpt file since it gets filled with many macros you no longer remember
what they do!

Much better to record to local files (.mpp and then copy to Global using the
Organizer or giving to Project Server admin to copy to Global Enterprise.

Yes it works when I try to create a macro in a local project. I chose a
Globalfile because it was the default option, but it’s fine for me to use a
local project and then to copy the macro to Global. Thanks Rod. Just to know,
what about my error message? Is there something wrong in my settings?

If it lets you to copy to one but not the other, then perhaps there is
already a macro with that name?
Try something really simple - a single letter perhaps - to see if that might
be the problem.

Actually, I already tried that, as well with a randomly selected set of
letters, but I always got the same error message.

There might be a problem with your vba object in your global.mpt file.
Here is something you might try:
- Open microsoft project
- using the Organizer, backup ALL customizations you made and stored in
the global (views, tables, groups, filters, reports, macro modules, ...)
- Close Microsoft Project
- In Windows Explorer, delete the global.mpt file (make sure to take a
backup of the file first!)

When you open Microsoft Project again, a new (empty) global.mpt file
will be created (all changes to settings etc. will be lost!).

Now you can try if recording to the global.mpt file works again.

Let me know if this helps,
Hans

I tried the whole thing, but after deleting the global.mpt file and open
project again I got the same issue.
