Unable to save AutoCorrection Changes in Word 2003

When I use the following procedure in MS Word 2003 it does not permanently
save the change. The procedure:

1. (In this case I am saving a graphic (my signature). Highlight the graphic
2. Select Tools/AutoCorrect Options
3. Enter the correction word in the “Replace†Section
4. Select OK

Then I test the word sequence and it DOES Work I am also able to use the
word tag in Outlook 2003.

When I close Outlook or re-Boot my system the correction is lost.

What am I missing?

Because you're saving a graphic (which is a "formatted" entry as opposed to
a "plain text" entry), it should be saved in your Normal.dot template. There
are some third-party add-ins, particularly certain versions of the Adobe
Acrobat add-in, that prevent changes in Normal.dot from being saved. See
http://www.gmayor.com/lose_that_adobe_acrobat_toolbar.htm for a discussion.
