Unable to save files in Word 2002

Frank

We have a Novell network at our school. Our students are
trying to save their documents in Word. The default file
location to save a document in Word has been changed so
that the students save their files in their home directory
drive O:\. Students with short names have no problem, but
students with longer names get the following message.

The Folder 'O:\filename isn't accessible. The folder may
be located in an unavailable location, protected with a
password, or the file name contains a / or \.

The students have no problem logging into the school
network and they also have no problem with saving
documents in PowerPoint or Excel. I believe the problem
is in Word 2002 itself. Can anyone help?

Frank,

As always, it is a Windows function that will not allow
the use of certain characters for file names. These
prohibited characters include "/" "\" "?" Make sure these
characters are not used when naming files. Windows will
let you know, as its done here when an invalid character
is used in a file name. You can use spaces, or underscores
capitals, or lower case to emphasize.
