unable to save the database properties

I have an Access 2000 database on which I tried to change the Database
Properties (in File). When making a change and clicking OK, I get the
error message "nameofdatabase is unable to save the database
properties" There is no further explanation, just an OK button.

A google-usenet search gave several posts describing the same problem.
Some of them had replies. Unfortunately nothing worked in this case.

I have full admin rights to everything including the database. And ownerships.

Is there a workaround? BTW, this is a database that I built myself.
