unable to save

I am unable to save my word documents that contain equations generated
form the equation editor. No matter what I try, I continually get the
error message:

"The disk is full trying to write to "Macintosh HD". Free some space
on this drive, or save the document on another disk. Try one or more
of the following:*Close any unneeded programs, documents, and
windows.*save the document on another disk."

My Hard drive is in fact not full, I still have 45 gigs of space left,
in addition I tried to save to a removable drive and got the same
message despite the fact that the removable drive has plenty of space
also. The document I am currently trying to save is 67kb.

The problem is recent, I have saved documents containing equations
before but now it won't let me. Word documents with text only will
still save, at least small ones will I haven't tried anything large,
but regardless of what word tells me I am inclined to believe now that
disk space is not the real problem here.

I am using OS X 10.3.9 and Office 2004

Has anybody else had a similar problem or does anyone have any
suggestions as to how I might convince word to start saving my
documents again.

Thanks

Hi Whatever Your Name Is:

Yep: If you had searched this group, you would find that a very large
number of people have had this problem.

You may find some helpful techniques here:
http://word.mvps.org/Mac/CantSaveToServer.html

Be careful: the top section requires a very high level of technical
expertise: if you don't know exactly what you're doing, don't try that one
:)

Cheers

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

I was able to alter the document in a way that that it would allow me
to save. It seem that word only allows me to save if I give equations
thier own paragraph. If I attempt to intermingle word text and an
equation from the equation editor in the same paragraph it word won't
allow me to save.

I have adjusted my prefrences and updated my system as the suggested by
the webpage you linked me to. Hopefully, the problem won't resurface.

Thanks

Ben
