Unable to see user names after sysncing with AD

Hello Everyone,

I just tried the sync with AD option for groups in Project Server 2007. I
get an error in the event log, the error is as follows

Standard Information:pSI Entry Point:

Project User: <Domain name>\Administrator

Correlation Id: 412f2cf7-b86c-48f1-89e3-75369ea70db0

PWA Site URL: http://<servername>/PWA
SSP Name: ProjectServerSSP

PSError: Success (0)

Project Server Active Directory Group Synchronization is initializing
(reading settings and user information from the Project Server database).

Then the user name list goes blank, but when I search for a name using the
search feature in the Users page in server settings I am able to see the
user.

Have I done something wrong or is this a known error and if so is there a
work around?

Regards,
Dave

I don';t know what is wrong but i have a action plan,

to enable ULS logging, and run synchronization with AD again.

You need a separate group for each role (PM, TM etc). You also need a group
for resources which is in a separate link in Server Settings (bottom right
somewhere from memory!). If you missed the resource group then AD Sync would
force no visible resources (if that's what you mean by users). The Error
message is a bug, it should be a Information line in the event log as it is
not an error, but expected to record AD Sync start.

Thanks for the responses

But the problem is that the "Manage Users" page under "Server Settings"
becomes blank when it should be displaying a list of all the users. This is
not the Resources page, but the user list page, the list of people who will
be using Project Server and the permissions assigned them. I can see all the
resources in the Resource Center with no issues.

The ULS logs are just showing me the same message that I got in the Event
viewer, just that it is displaying it for each and every user added.

Anyone have any idea why this is happening

Thanks
Dave
