Unable to select visible object

I can see an object, but I cannot select it. The object is visible even when
all layers are hidden. I want to assign it to a layer, but I cannot select it
to do so. I have a Size & Position window, so I can tell if something is
selected, even if it has no indicators. Without being able to select it, I
can't even get the ID to even manually open the ShapeSheet.

I checked Drawing Explorer / Protect Document, but everything is unselected
there.

Any ideas?

Looks like an object on a background page while your foreground page is
active....
