Unable to send email from wireless connection

Since setting up a wireless network at home I can receive but cannot send
email via my laptop. I have tried the wireless router IT department several
times but unable to rectify the problem. I have Microsoft XP home and
Outlook 2003 version. Any Ideas?

If you connect wired to the router do you have the same problem?
