unable to send email in outlook 2000

my problem started when i noticed that my sent emails were not showing up in
the "sent" folder, instaed they were in the "outbox" folder and they were not
reaching their intended recipients.
Now i get a message saying "Unable to load personal free/busy data. Network
problems are preventing connection to the microsft exchange server computer".
please help
