Unable to set a custom Keyboard shortcut for lasso select

Hello
I need a little help with setting up a keyboard shortcut for lasso select
and the type/Selection tool.

Using the instructions given on this page -
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/onenote/HP030893721033.aspx , I managed
to set a shortcut (alt+L ) for lasso select. Unfortunately though the
shortcut doesn't seem to be working properly.
Pressing the shortcut presses the lasso button , but only for a second,
then it goes back to the type selection tool. Its weird and difficult to
describe. It doesn't work in the end...

Basically I was hoping for a shortcut to toggle between type tool / the
lasso tool / and a drawing tool !

Any help?

I wonder if this is because of the option to automatically switch between
pen/ink mode? Try turning that option off. What might be happening is it
sets the lasso mode, then the code kicks in and sees that a key is down (the
shortcut that activated lasso mode) and kicks it back into text mode.
