Unable to specify time of day in calendar items or task reminders

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)

I cannot click in the time box (to the right of the date box) in creating a Calendar event or setting a task reminder. Clicking on the box does nothing - there's nothing in the box, and no way to access it.

is the 'all day event' box checked?
