I have a machine running Windows Server 2003 x64 (Standard). I had installed
Office 2007 Enterprise and it was working correctly. Recently, I changed the
server to run as a Terminal Server by setting up a Licensing Server. When I
start any Office 2007 Application now I get a message telling me that I
cannot run this on a Terminal Server (the exact error message is not too
important as that is not the issue that I am concerned with right now). So I
wanted to re-install the Office Applications.
Unfortunately, I am unable to uninstall them. I'm not sure why this
happens, but anytime I go into 'Add/Remove Programs' and click Remove on my
Office 2007 Enterprise installation nothing happens. Even if I put the CD
into the drive and try to run the setup.exe manually, nothing happens. If I
open the task manager to see what processes come up, when I either click
Remove in the Add/Remove Programs screen or if I manually click the
setup.exe, a process called SETUP.EXE shows up for a split second and then
dissappears again without any error message.
Even after restarting the machine, I received the same results. I am having
no other issues on this machine. All other applications or executables are
running without any problems. As far as I can tell this looks like its only
happening with the Office 2007 Enterprise installation. I have even tried
uninstalling another software to see if that works, and I had no problems
doing so.
Has anyone experienced something similar? What are some things I can try to
resolve this issue? I have searched Microsoft Support and found step-by-step
instructions on how to uninstall Office 2007 manually, but if I cannot run
the setup in the first place I feel that this wouldn't solve my problem. I
would be able to remove it manually, but then have no way of re-installing it
since the setup won't run.
Any help is appreciated!
Thanks,
Danny
