Unable to uninstall office 2007 home and student trial version

I tried to install Office 2003 Professional which I already own. I
didn't realize that I had a version of office 2007 home and student on
my new HP Pavillion notebook with Windows Vista Ultimate. So I tried
to uninstall Office 2007. I succeeded in uninstalling what I thought
was Office 2007. After that, my system stopped working. I could login,
but nothing happened. All I saw was a cursor and a black screen.

Fortunately, I was able to load the task manager and run programs to
see what was happening. After about 15 or 20 minutes the login startup
tasks completed to my surprise. So what was taking so long. I have no
idea.

I ran system restore until I got back to a point where Office 2003
Professional was no longer installed. Now, I cannot uninstall Office
2007 home and student trial version. I select the program to uninstall
and click the Uninstall button. But nothing happens.

I spent hours on this problem, thinking I had something wrong with the
firewall or the anti-virus program. Sheeesh!

So why can't we uninstall a trial version of Office 2007?

You could try running this tool which removes registry keys for Office
2003 and before. However, I have also successfully used it to remove
Office 2007 keys and configurations as well:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301

This utility only removes the Registry Entries; It does not remove the
actual folders where Office 2007 is installed.

The tools is provided "as is" so MS is not responsible should anything
go wrong to your system. I suggest read the ReadMe.txt file attached to
that page.

Hope this helps.
