unable to uninstall, repair....

I am unable to uninstall, repair, or access office 2000
Professional. I updated from the windows website and it
restarted my system and now I cannot access anything in
Office from outlook to excel.

I would like to start over with a fresh installation.

How do I uninstall office pro 2000 and start over. It
woun't let me remove it from add remove programs or from
the Microsoft Office Pro 2000 disc that I have it woun't
even let me repair it. I am totelly lost Help! Please!

yes it says Windows Installer Error 1606 feature ID not
registered.

The situation may not match yours exactly, but the resolution might work.

Error 1402 could not open key

Verify you have sufficiant access to that key, or contact
your support personel. This is the message that came up
on my screen after I downloaded the SR-1 Update. I did
download the installer first though. And by the way i
cannot open Powerpoint, outlook, Excell, access or any
Office 2000 products. Please help.

Sounds like you might have several corrupt things going on; try this article
for that error.

Did you download the new installer, then try to re-install Office 2000, then
run the SR-1 update? The SR-1 Update won't apply if your Office 2000
installation has somehow gotten corrupt.

What operating system are you using? Are you logged in as the administrator
when you're doing all this installation?

Have you tried running a scandisk and disk defragmentation lately on your
computer? Might not be a bad idea to rule out disk problems.

I am using ME and yes I have just run scandisc and defrag
yes I am the administrator it is my computer. I will try
the paste fix that you sent.
