unable to uninstall updates

Following installation of updates to Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 I
am unable to access any Office programs.
Any attempts to open programs, uninstall updates or install using the disc
are met with a Windows Installer message that reads "Feature you are trying
to use is on a network resource that is unavailable"
HELP PLEASE!!!
