Unable to update/cancel recurring appointment

I have a user who is the organizer of a recurring appt. He tried canceling
one occurance of the appointment by deleting that occurance, and after doing
so it still shows him as the meeting organizer, BUT it does not give him the
option of canceling or sending any updates regarding that meeting any longer,
it's as if he's just setup as an attendee now when in fact he's the meeting
organizer. Does anyone have an idea what may have happened. Any help will be
greatly appreciated. I can always delete this meeting and have him re-create
it, but it will still be good to know what may have caused it so as not to
let it happen again. Thanks in advance for any assistance on this issue

I forogt to mention that he's using Outlook 2007
