Unable to Update Office XP with SP-1 Error 1328

I recently had to reformat my hard drive and reinstall
Microsoft XP and MS Office XP 2002, amongst other
things. I am having problems with MS Word and Outlook as
they keep crashing. Each time they crash I am directed to
the MS Office Update page that tells me to install SP-1.
When I download SP-1 and try to install I get Error 1328
Error applying patch to C:\Config.Msi\PT10F.tmp. It has
probably been updated by other means, etc. I managed to
locate the log file OHotfix(0001)_Msi.log in acordance
with MS Article 235009 but am unable to find where the
update failure occurred. I know I have the base version
of the Office XP program without any updates so now I am
stuck. Help anyone?
