Hi Tom,

Are you running the NTFS file system on your WinXP Pro
machine? If so, it sounds as if either the local Admin
group or the System account does not have the correct
permissions for the Windows Installer to complete the
patching or removal of OffXP.

Try this:
1) Open an instance of Windows Explorer and select the
C:\ drive.
2) Right-click, choose Properties, and then click the
Security tab.
3) Make sure that the Adminstrators and System accounts
are listed and have Full Control of the entire drive
("This folder, subfolders, and files" under Advanced)
4) You may need to take ownership of the entire drive
before you can successfully reset the permissions on all
subcontainers and objects (click the Advanced button,
then Owner tab)
5) See if you can successfully apply the OffXP SP1 update
now.

Thanks!
