Unable to use mouse in documents opened in Word 2007

I installed the most recent Windows Vista and Office 2007 updates yesterday.
Since then I have not been able to use the mouse to move the cursor, select
text, move objects etc in the document opened in windows 2007. I can still
select the various commands in the ribbon and the Word 2007 menu. I cannot
however seleect any options in the Word Options tab (e.g. resources)

Word also crashes when I close it.

I have tried repairing and reinstalling Word.

Any ideas how to fix this would be very much appreciated. Thanks

This is almost certainly an incompatible third party add-in. Start Word in
Safe Mode and test. From Start, Run (Winkey+R) type in

winword /a

and press enter. If you are now able to open and edit a document normally
now, it proves it is an add-in (something from a scanner, fax, document
management, etc.)

Thanks Terry you were absolutely right......

As a follow up how do I go about identifying and removing the add in?

Thanks again

Andrew
