Unable to view .OFT in attachment

Hi. Recently I recieved an email from a colleague which contains a
simple outlook template that allows us to enter some text and select an
item via a drop down box. This works fine on all the PCs in my
department except one, where when you open the attachment just a blank
reply page opens and nothing else. I have tinkered with every setting
in outlook I could think of, even reinstalled Office 2003, but it gives
the same result. Could anyone be of assistance to me? I'm not sure if
this is the right forum to be making this post under but this was the
one related closest to my problem. Thanking you for your help.

Pasan.

Save the .oft file to your hard drive, then use the Tools | Forms | Choose Form command to open it. This is a change made in Office 2003 Service Pack 2.

Parsan,

I can't tell for sure if this is the same issue or not, but I experienced
the exact same symptoms after converting my office suite from 2000 to 2003.
What I eventually found was that by looking at the .oft files from a folder
view, they didn't have Outlook properly associate as the program that opens
it, at least it wasn't the normal logo you are used to seeing. I would
suggest the following:

1. Using the Windows Explorer, go to the folder in which the .oft file is
kept.
2. Right click on the .oft file and select "Properties".
3. On the "General" tab, look at the top section where it says: "Opens with:"
4. That "should" say Microsoft Outlook. Regardless of whether it is correct
or not, click the "Change" button and select another application, such as
Word.
5. Click ok to save the change.
6. Right click on the .oft file once again and select properties.
7. Once again, click the change button next to the "Opens with:" field.
8. This time, select "Microsoft Outlook" and click ok.

If you open the file now, it "should" work. Hope this helps.

I have an OFT form posted in a web folder, and have been using it for some
time to collect information.

One person now gets the File Download box with the Save and Cancel option.
There is no Open option. It also has Type: Unknown File Type.

I checked under properties for the form and it's set to open with Microsoft
Outlook.

As I told the original poster, an Outlook 2003 SP2 user will need to save the .oft file as a file and open it with the Tools | Forms | Choose Form command.
