Unable to view tasks in timesheet

JJ

I have a user who is unable to view his tasks in Project Web Access My
Tasks.

I have verified his view settings match mine, and I have verified I
can see his tasks in the view resource assignments view. He is
running XP Pro, Office 2003 Pro, and IE 7. Our server environment is
2003 sp1. I had this happen to one other, but I wasn unable to
resolve. Any help with be appreciated.

Check the Assignment Owner for the user's assignment in the Project. If
not set to the user, the assignments will not show in My Tasks.

Hi Stephen,

Thanks for your suggestion. I read how you can change the Assignment
Owner in Project Professional 2007, but how would I do this in Project
Professional 2003? Would this be something that needs to be changed
in the database?

There is no "Assignment Owner" in PS 2003, I think Stephen assumed you were
on 2007 because it wasn't completely clear in your original posting.

I would check that the assignments are current for this resources and try to
change the view option for that resource form current tasks to all tasks if
you haven't already. If that doesn't work, I would re-publish the tasks in
question with the "overwrite" actuals option if you are not on managed time
periods as sometimes this forces the changes to go out. Make sure the
viewdrop folder on the server itself is processing the xml files as expected
on publish.

You're right, Jonathan... I keep assuming that if people don't say
otherwise they're on 2007. I need to stop doing that :)

Sorry, I wasn't clear enough in my instructions. Next to the views you
referenced there is a also drop down called "Settings" where you can select
"View Options" from this drop down.

You will no see a filter that you can apply called "Show Only Current
Tasks*". See if this is turned on or off.

I did verify in the "View Options" that he is viewing all tasks, and
the date range is in the current period. In fact, I verified his
settings against my settings and they were identical. The only odd
thing to report is that the Project Manager added him to the "Build
Team from Enterprise" list in the project plan as Proposed instead of
Committed. When he changed the setting it updated the tasks. Would
this cause the issue of the resource not being able to see their tasks
on their timesheet, but allow me as the Administrator to see his tasks
in the "view resource assignments" section of the Resource Center?

I am still waiting to hear from the resource if he is now able to see
his tasks.

Yes, that is most likely the issue. I should have asked you to verify the
booking type first, my mistake. Proposed bookings will not show up in
resource's timesheets.

In fact, this is a good way to remove assignments from resource's timesheets
without deleting them.

That's a great idea! And, yes, this did fix our issue.

Thanks everyone for your input!
