Hi,

We got a groove account for one of our employee, he has just been replaced
with new person; I was told to change the groove account identity Name for
this new person but groove is not letting me do that when I try to edit
account identity fields for account name and others are disabled!!!

Can someone please help?

Editing the identity is the wrong approach. However, for the record, here's
how that works: if the account is part of a managed domain, none of the
business information associated with the identity can be edited at the
client. Instead, it must be changed on Groove Manager. If the identity is
linked to Active Directory, you will not be able to change it on Manager
either, unless that link is broken.

What you should do instead is create a new account and identity for the new
employee, and remove the old one from the domain. See "Disabling and Enabling
Domain Members" and "Deleting Domain Members" in the Groove Manager Domain
Adminitrators Guide.

If the client is using Groove 3.1 or earlier, you must also revoke the
account license, so that it is available to reissue.

Frances,

Thanks for reply, but the thing is we are using groove 3.1 on almost 5
different PC's for last 3 years. It is not integrated with Active Directory
and I don't think that we have any kind of Groove manger somewhere(I am not
sure), every one is using Groove on their own PC's with their individual
identities and only sharing stuff with each others.. now as one of the
employee is left I only need to change his identity!

If this is an unmanaged copy, you should have no access to the identity. Did
the departing employee leave you his login information to attempt this?

You should create a new account for your new employee. If you have five
copies, did you buy them from the Groove store? If so, the person who
purchased them can revoke the license for the old account and provide it to
the new one. See this KB article:

"How to revoke and then reissue licenses that you obtained from the Groove
Store"
