Unblocking Links in Emails

I am unable to open any links that may come attached to emails I receive.
For example, if I receive an email from Crate and Barrel, I am unable to
access their website from the information on the email, like you normally
would. It seems to be a blocking issue, but I can't figure out how to fix it.
This is only a recent problem in the last 3 or 4 months. My new husband (a
MAC user) may have been fiddling with the settings.

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro laptop with Windows XP and Microsoft Office
Suite 2003.

Any help is greatly appreciated. I forward most of my emails with links now
to my work email, and open them there.
