underallocated resource name show as red color

I have a comfusion about resource view, After I deal with the overallocated resource ( each of resource under 8 hour per day), the resource name still keep the red color.
then I check the resource graph view, found the peak unit is over 100% in some days( display with red color) , for other format( work, overallocation....) are displayed with blue color. I'm also check the each of resource's max unit is 100%
what's the Peak unit means? why it showed with red color ??

When you create a task, the default start time is 8:00am (assuming you've
got the usual project defaults).

If you create two tasks (T1 and T2) on the same day for a duration of 4
hours each and work of 4 hours each, you actually create two tasks starting
at 8:00am on the same day.

If you assign the same resource to both those tasks then Project sees the
person starting at 8:00am on two separate tasks. Even though the actual
work is one day (8 hours) Project sees the person overallocateded from 8:00
to 12:00.

You can eliminate the overallocation by linking T1 and T2 (but that may
generate a linkage which resolves the display but doesn't reflect reality).

You can using Leveling (choose hour by hour) but the algorithm may not
create the results you want (levelling is a rather complex topic).

You can leave things the way they are because you now know that the red
highlighting is -- in this case -- a warning and not an error.

Hi Miao,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

Peak units are the total units assigned to that resource during that time
period and will be red if the resource has been assigned a total of more
than the Maximum Units defined for that resource (see Max Units in the
Resource Sheet view), even for as little as one minute.

Please see FAQ #28 - Resource Levelling Does Not Remove Overallocation
and/or #34 - Overallocation Occurring In Less Than One Day.

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at
this web address: http://www.mvps.org/project/

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)
