Underline probems in Word 97/2000

A

Airman Basic

When adding an underline to a document, for signatures and the like, if
I go across the page and hit return, the line becomes bold and I can't
delete it. I suspect this has something to do with page breaks, but
danged if I can figure out how to undo/delete the thing. I know now to
use the drawing tools to make lines, but I still have the problem in
existing docs. Can anyone help?

That is Automatic Formatting funcion.

To undue the change as soon as it occurs, click the "Undo" arrow on the
taskbar and continue about your business.

To disable the function, Got to "Tools", "Autocorrect". Click "Autoformat
as you type" tab. Deselect (remove the check) "Border Lines".

Have you considered drawing lines using the Drawing toolbar?
