underlines on word documents

I am filling out a form, in Word. The lines that you are supposed to
put your answers on disappear under the text I am typing. Is there
some feature I can use to prevent that? When I try to add underlines
under the text, it doesn't line up with the origninal line. Can that
be fixed?

TIA

The form is nothing but a text document. Sorry but there is no way to
fix this because the line as you call is nothing but an underscore in
other words just characters (text). The form that you are referring to
is probably was meant to be printed out and filled out by hand. You
see the form was not created in a table.

If you have access to modify the form you can put the fields into a cell
of a table with the bottom border on and all other borders for the cell
off. This way the text stays underlined when you type into the field.

Another option is to use the draw tool to draw the underline area below
the field.

my 2 cents

You can use Borders and Shading and insert a line that way and you will
be able to type on it without the line disappearing.
