Underlining spaces

Is there a way to get an underline to form after a word
without having to place a bogus punctuation mark or
something at the end of the line? An underline will show
under spaces before a letter or punctuation mark, but I
can't get it to do so afterward. Do I always have to use
the line drawing tool instead?

Use a non-breaking space (Ctrl+Shift+[Spacebar])
