Underlying codes

Is there a way in Word 2008, as there is in WordPerfect's Reveal Codes command, to reveal the underlying codes as a way of eliminating/adding underlining/bolding/italics etc. in an existing document? Thanks.

Yes. Close the document, and MAKE a COPY.

The next step is utterly fatal on the Mac: once you have done it, there is
no way Mac Word can re-open the document. So do it on a copy! :)

1) Change the file extension to .Zip, then open it with the BOM Archive
Helper.

2) Open the resulting folder, and open the Word subfolder, then open the
Document.xml file in TextEdit.

3) Enjoy :)
