Underscoring and Change command

Greetings, all!

How can I get MS-Word to match underscoring in a change command?

For example, if I need to change all occurrences of RUSH so that they have
the "SH" underlined, how do I do this? Word currently doesn't seem to
recognize or obey underlining in change commands.

You can apply formatting to all of the Find what: or all of the Replace
with:, but you can't segment it. I.e., you could search for RUSH and
underline the entire word, but not just the SH.

One way around this would be to pre-load the part you want underlined into
the clipboard. I.e., insert SH, underline it, and copy it to the clipboard,
then use the following:

Find what: RUSH

Replace with: RU^c

You could do it with a two-pass find/replace, as well. I.e., set Find what:
to RUSH, put ^& into the Replace with field, and press Ctrl+U to set the
formatting to Underline. Then, do a 2nd pass searching for RU (Underline),
put ^& into the Replace with: field, and press Ctrl+U there until is says No
Underline.

There are a variety of other approaches, too, but working out which would be
the most direct would depend up on the exact circumstances.
