Undesired Format?

Word 2000 ... Word keeps changing what I type ... ie: 3
asterisk (***) becomes some kind of square dotted line &
and 3 equal signs (===) become 2 solid lines.

How do I stop this & get simply get WYSIWYG?

Thanks ... Kha

You've run into AutoFormat as You Type. What your asterisks changed to is a
paragraph border. Put your insertion point (cursor) on the line just before
the solid line and use Format => Borders and Shading... to remove the bottom
border. Make sure that the drop down in the lower right corner of the dialog
box says "paragraph" and not "page."

At the time this happens, you can just press Ctrl-Z to undo it. You can also
change your AutoCorrect options. Tools => AutoCorrect (or AutoCorrect
Options) => AutoFormat as you type. Uncheck border lines from the middle
section of options. (I uncheck them all from this section.)

Hope this helps. For more on these phenomena see
