Unexpected error

Geoff P

Hi all,
I am getting the following error when I open the Microsoft
application

"An unexpected error occurred while trying to load the Microsoft
Framework Libray"

Can anyone shed some light on a new Mac user please!!

Framework errors are usually an indication of a missing or inneffectively
applied update. Since you don't mention version I can't be sure which you
need, but if Office X update to 10.1.8, if 2004 then 11.3.3 followed by
11.3.4 - even if you've recently applied them. You may also need to reapply
the current OS X updater (10.4.8). Run Disk Utility - Repair Disk
Permissions afterward.

If this isn't a solution please provide more deatail including version of
Office & OS as well as events that may have led up to the problem.

I too, continue to get an error message like this one, and I also get
that the library cannot be found. I have looked everywhere on my hard
drive, but cannot find it. I have a Power PC G5 and am using Office
X. I would just reload it, but I had a fire and cannot locate my CD. I
also, cannot afford to purchase a new one. Do you have any suggestions
as to what I might do? As a teacher I need to do work at home and
school, but cannot do anything that has to do with Office because I
cannot open any existing documents, nor any that I bring home from
school. I look forward to your relply.
Sincerely,

Have you tried applying the updates suggested?

<snip>

I would just reload it
<snip>

Which wouldn't resolve your issue even if you could :)

I sympathize with your plight, but please re-read my reply to Geoff P -
there is absolutely no reference to reinstalling Office.

I too have the same message and have done all that is suggested . I
have reinstalled Office Update 11.3.4, and OS update 10.4.8 and ran
disk utility and repair disk permissions. can think of no events that
might have led to the problem. Simply was using Word and noticed that
my documents were not printing properly, then something came up that
Office needed repairing, then when I tried to do that it said there
was not enough memory and promptly disappeared. I am using a fairly
new Macbook 1.83 GHZ with Intel and only use Office 2004 so cannot
believe there is not enough memory. Can you advise please?

Not enough memory can result from a font problem. If you use Suitcase to
manage your fonts, and you deactivate one of the fonts that is required to
display the current message you could receive this error.

As Entourage and the other Microsoft apps have a nonstandard way of handling
fonts, they don't respond well to a removal while the app is running.

Microsoft has a set of required fonts to keep in mind. It may be that one of
them is missing or has been deactivated by font management software.

To check for memory see " Problems from Insufficient RAM and Free Hard Disk
Space"
