Unexpected quit upon save as

I used Word X for many months trouble free (OX 10.1 and 10.2) until I
upgraded OX 10.2 to 10.2.8 on my G4 Quicksilver. Thereupon a new
problem began: opening an existing Word document and then save as
would cause Word to quit. Upgrading to the latest Office version did
not help.

The document causing the problem contained an embedded medium
size Excel table. I deleted the table and successfully saved the Word
document with a new name. Then I opened (updated) Excel and
repasted the table into the Word document. The document could now
be saved.

Beth: would you try to reproduce this scenario? Thanks.

Hi Neil,

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner.

First, I can't try to reproduce the scenario because I'm not in OS X/Office
X.

Secondly, even if I were in X, I couldn't reproduce the scenario because I
don't have the problem document to experiment with.

Finally, since you solved the problem, what would be the benefit in
reproducing it?
