Unexpected Word Shutdown

This problem continues even after maintaining all MS updates. Does deleting
the Normal.dot files remedy this problem? I consider this an application
glitch which requires a MS fix. Is one in the works?

All these solutions seem to require opening TOOLS/TOOLPLATES which would be
great if we could open WORD itself. The problem is that you can only close
WORD as you close the 'runtime' error message. Any other suggestions anyone.
I have just downloaded Office SP2 to no avail.

Sorry if I have already sent this but all the solutions require
openingTOOLS/Templates in WORD but the problem is that WORD cannot be opened
in the first place The 'runtime' error window closes it down every time you
try to open it

Have you looked in Word's Startup folder and the Office Startup folder for
add-ins (.dot files)? Move these out temporarily and then try starting Word.
I assume Word starts correctly in Safe Mode (using the /a switch or pressing
Ctrl while it is loading)?
