Unformatting Direct Formatted text in Project 2003

I have certain cells I want to format, but I've reached the max number of
cells that can be Direct Formatted. The error message directs me to remove
the Direct Formatting from other cells to clear up space. Anyone know how to
do this in Project?

Hi Cadking,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

Select all the appropriate tasks then format them back to the default all in
one go.

The problem is that I can't even remove bold type off a single cell. Project
doesn't let change the format of anything. For instance, I can't change the
color of a cell that is colored green to "automatic". I may have to save the
file as a copy, delete some tasks, see if Project will then allow me to
remove formatting from some other cells, then add the deleted cells back in.

Hi Cadking,

Does this happen with other projects? If it is only this one, then I would
suspect corruption. Have a look at the suggestions in FAQ Item: 43.
Handling project file corruption and/or bloat.
