ungrouped enhanced metafile yukky results

Ok..I was elated to read a posting on this forum about grouping text boxes
with pictures and copying/pasting special as an enhanced metafile to make
resizing the text easier. I could then ungroup them if needed to edit the
text. Works beautiful..until I chose ungroup. Power Point prompts do you want
to convert to a Microsoft Drawing Object. The resulting drawing object
conversion changes bullets and some other text in the text boxes to what
looks like wingding fonts. Why?

Mostly Arial, although the bullets were defined in webdings so that explains
that part. (I didn'te create this critter.) But, even the spaces between
words in Arial got changed to what look like small red bullets.

Since posting earlier, I discovered if I ungrouped the enhanced metafile
on a new blank presentation, my weirdness goes away. So, that's my plan.
