ungrouping each line of a math solution

I used mathtype 6 to produce a 5 line math solution. I updated the solution
into powerpoint after each line hoping that Ppt would treat each line as a
separate object (I want this so that I can present each line separately)
Unfortunately the whole sol. is treated as one object and the group button
is greyed out. Is the only solution to close mathtype after each line

Right. Everything you create in one MathType window is considered as
one object. If you want to animate them separately in PPT, you need to
insert the lines as separate MathType objects.

I know its cheating - but if I want to print out notes & dont want the
solutions to appear I create rectangles over the lines I don't want to appear

Oh I don't think that's cheating at all! I think that's a very good
technique to use.

Similar to the way I like to highlight text -- put a solid rectangle
behind it and animate it in when I want to emphasize it. Your
technique for animating equations is the reverse of that.
