uninstall business contact manager

I added the business contact manager but it did not do quite what I needed.
Now I want to get rid of it. However I cannot seem to find a way to do it
without uninstalling Outlook itself.
Do you have to delete Outlook and then reinstall it to get rid of BCM?
I tried add/remove programs and change but the option to remove just BCM
does not seem to exist. Also tried to find a way to remove it from within
Outlook.
Thanks.

Unistalling the BCM is a separate operation from Office. It has its own
listing. You can always just right click on the BCM topmost folder and
select "close."

I do not have a separate listing in add/remove programs for BCM. The only
listing that I have is for Outlook with BCM update.

While I can close it, Outlook takes an exruciatingly long time to load with
BCM installed and I want to get rid of that time delay, which is the main
reason for uninstalling it in the first place.

Here is how I was able to remove Business Contact Manager from Outlook 2003
without having to reinstall Outlook. Not all of these steps may be required
but it worked so there is no arguing with success. I did this on 3 computers
and it worked fine on all three with minor differences.
1. I am running on XP so first I created a restore point just in case.
2. Then I shut down the SQL server app (if it is running) Also make sure
that the SQL process is stopped.
3. Open Outlook 2003 and click thru the two prompts (say No) to select a new
database since it can’t open BCM as we have shut down SQL.
4. Highlight the BCM folders under personal folders and close them. This
may take some navigating thru prompts that they don’t exist but eventually
you can get them closed.
5. Go to program files and rename (just in case) both the Microsoft Small
Business folder and the Microsoft SQL server folder by appending something to
the end of the name like “_xxx†or any other way you can rename them and
still have them recognizable in case of a problem.
6. Close Outlook and make sure its process has stopped.
7. Reopen Outlook and click thru the prompts that say it wants to reinstall
BCM. It will try to reinstall but cancel it. It may do this several times.
This varied on each computer.
8. Once Outlook has stabilized and BCM is not seen then go to Help > Detect
and Repair and let it run thru the process. It will reset Outlook to the
state it was in before BCM was installed. Note that this worked fine on 3
computers and all are up and working well. Good luck.
