Andrew Lichtman

I cannot open MS office 2000 applications, as of a few
days ago. I have tried to unistall and reinstall, but when
I start SetUp from the CD I get error message:
"Error applying transforms. Verify that specified
transform paths are valid."
All blaster worm precautions/updates etc have been
done.What can I do?
Thanks

I found an exact descritpion of my problem at

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-
us;299699.
Two solutions were suggested.
Method 1 of 2 required removing Office with Add/Remove
tool...but that brings up the same error message as when I
use the CD

Method 2 requires me to create a verbose log file by
typing the command
path\setup.exe/l*vC:\Officelog.txt.
where path is path to location of my Office source.

BUT I DO NOT KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS. How do I find the path
to my office source. What is my office source?
I tried

C:\Program Files\Microsoft
Office\setup.exe/L*vC:\Officelog.txt

but that did not work.
