Somehow it seems I deleted the MSOCache dir.
When I try to uninstall Office through Add/Remove Programs I point the
installer to the drive that has the iso image mounted. The installer runs,
briefly, then exits. Office Professional 2003 is not listed in Add/Remove
Programs.
When I start Add/Remove Programs again, Office Professional 2003 is listed.
If I right-click on autorun.inf (on the mounted drive) and choose "Install",
I get the message "Installation failed."
If I just run setup.exe from the mounted drive, I get a message about the
"patch package could not be opened."
Can't uninstall, can't install...
Try a repair without the disk first. You should be able to trigger that
from Add/Remove Programs. If it doesn't work, try it with the disk. But
you might end up having to remove and reinstall.
If you do reinstall, make sure to NOT delete the Local Install Source (an
option at the end of setup). This is the folder MSOCache. If that folder
is not there, you get into problems like you are describing.

You had Outlook 2007 installed?
If yes, then this is to be expected. There was a bug in the installer
of
beta 2 that didn't remove Outlook 2003, but still installed 2007. There
can always be only one version of Outlook on a computer.
The only resolution is to remove Outlook 2003 and to reinstall it. Or,
remove 2003, and then install Outlook 2007 as part of the trial.
I never had Outlook 2007 installed.
Will Outlook 2003 repair itself if I have the install disk available, or
will I need to uninstall and reinstall??
Thanks for your help....
