Uninstall Outlook Express?

When I click on an email address on a web site, Outlook Express immediately
pops up wanting me to send a email via Outlook Express 6.0. If I 'm using MS
Word or MS Excel & have an email address typed in it & click it, the same
Outlook Express window appears. I do not have Outlook Express checked as my
default email choice. I prefer to use the email program provided by my
Internet provider.
I've already removed Outlook from MS Office.

Is there a way to keep from having Outlook Express 6 pop up every time I
click an email address to send a reply to someone? Can I just get my
Internet providers program to pop up instead?

I tried to solve this frustrating problem several years ago but was informed
by Microsoft that it was not possible to change.

If you're not using Outlook, why are you asking in an Outlook newsgroup? Ask
in an Outlook Express newsgroup. microsoft.public.outlookexpress.general is a
good choice.

If you are using web mail, you can't click the mailto URLs and have it use
that account. If you hunt around the web, there might be scripts you can use
that will intercept the call and sends it to the web account. But IMHO, it's
better to set OE up with the acct and let it send the mailtos. Make sure you
have it either leaving mail on the server or use a fake POP3 server name
(like "mail") so it doesn't download mail.
