uninstall problem

No error message. Using add /remove programs, it prompts me to insert Microsoft office disk. I do that and the program quits responding. I have to "end task" and close. I purchased office 97 when I was running windows 98 but understood it would be compatible with XP. Can't make it work so I'm trying to uninstall it.Thanks for your help

Odd. It should run fine under Windows XP. What symptoms are you seeing
after installing it? Did the installation complete successfully, and did
you apply all the patches? Did you install it as the administrator in
Windows XP?

You might also try this article:

This lets you try to re-install Office without it recognizing that it's
already installed, which may help repair the installation.

Was your version of Office originally purchased pre-installed on the other
computer, or was it purchased retail?

Hi Linda,

You can use Office 97 on Windows XP. Perhaps you can tell us the
problems you are encountering and we can assist from there. :)
