Then, it most probably *is* IE7 (On Windows XP Pro) preventing the
connection? I am good at getting rid of the .web cache, saving, and then
recalculating hyperlinks.
When I do "Publish Web" - on the dialog where I enter my directory name and
password, it refuses my password and it is written: "This operation requires
author permission for home.nycap.rr.com:80" I don't know what this means.
The password opens the FP Control Panel that lets me access my web account,
so is that how I should suspect the problem is IE7?
(1) What if I decided not to uninstall and reinstall FP: can this be fixed
another way without uninstalling IE7 and antivirus app; then uninstall FP?
(2) If this is the only way to fix (IE7 problem), then do I reinstall IE7 or
does it revert to IE6?
Sorry for expressing my quandary, but I am at a loss.

: Locally, you will always have the design-time extensions, the only way you
would have the server
: extensions, is if you are running Windows XP Pro or Server with IIS and
chose to install the
: extensions. IE7 would not cause problem with the extensions, but could
cause problems with FP trying
: to connect to the remote server, since FP uses IE for connecting, so you
might want to first try
: uninstalling IE7 and any Anti-Virus application before you go uninstall
FP.
:
: FYI: I have been using the same web host with FP SE since 1997, and never
had any real issues that
: were directly related to having the extensions.
