uninstall/reinstall Microsoft Works Suite 2000

Jean

1) is there an updated version of Microsoft Works Suite 2000, especially as
it refers to Home Publishing

2) I installed a custom (not full) version of Microsoft Works Suite 2000. I
then decided to install the full version, per the computer suggestion. When
I went to "remove/uninstall" MWS 2000, I was unable to do so. Some
Works/Word programs remained, thus could not reinstall the full program.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Works 9 is the latest version of Works:
http://www.microsoft.com/products/works/default.mspx

But I think the last Suite was:
Microsoft Works Suite 2006
http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Works-Suite-2006/dp/B000A76ZT8

MS Home Publishing was discontinued after
the 2000 version. After that, Picture It! and then
Digital Image were the only similar MS programs
available.

You're in luck because many of the older KB

Thanks for the info. Any suggestions about installing the full/complete
version of MWS 2000 so I may use Home Publishing without some many disc
changes.

Thanks.

This program is getting quite old and if you plan to
continue using it for a few more years I would strongly
suggest that you make copies of all the disks. I've
seen several reports from users who needed
disks replaced and they are no longer available.

The following info works for the individual version of
Home Publishing 2000....I suspect you could adapt
it to your Works Suite version.

Bottom line...all Home Publishing files must be
copied to a folder on your hard drive and setup
(install) must be run from there. Then the program
can access all the files without disk swapping.

The following is from a readme file on
HP2000 disk one:

(I suspect that would be disk 4 in your
Works Suite version)

#15. Installing onto a network or installing
everything to your hard disk

Home Publishing can easily be installed on
a network. To install it, copy the contents of
all three CDs to the same network folder,
starting with the third Home Publishing disc,
then the second Home Publishing disc, and
then the first Home Publishing disc, in that
order. Do NOT put the contents of the three
CDs into three separate folders; keep them
in the same folder. Some files are duplicated
on all three CDs. When you are asked to over-
write these files, click Yes. Home Publishing
should be installed onto computers using
Setup.exe on this network share, not from
the CDs.
===

Good Luck.

I set my mom's computer up to do that but it's been ages since I did. I
found the directions somewhere online. (Something tells me the steps were
wrtten by John Inzer but I could be wrong.) Google or Bing for the info -
it's out there somewhere.
