Uninstalled pre-installed Office 2007, now Office 2003 not working

I purchased a laptop and it came with pre-installed Office 2007 trial
version. I installed my own Office 2003. Office 2003 worked just fine. A few
days ago, I uninstalled Office 2007 to free up some disk space. Now Office
2003 is not working anymore. When I tried to run Word for instance, it tries
to initiate the installation process.

How do I fix this problem? According the Add/Remove program tool, Office
2003 standard edition is still on the system. I tried system restore, but it
failed to bring back Office 2007.

You should have uninstalled any trial together with the activation assistant
& rebooted prior to installing the paid for version
Run a detect/repair from your 2003 office cd
